Ahead of its October opening, Legoland Florida is reaching out to potential workers by announcing today it needs to fill 800 positions.
While the Polk County theme park is only accepting online applications, it is actively recruiting for a variety of positions starting at $7.75 per hour.
Customer service and a kid-focused approach are two key attributes were looking for in a Legoland Florida Model Citizen, Teresa Vaughn, director of human resources, told the Orlando Sentinel. We call our employees Model Citizens because thats what we expect.
Many of the jobs are seasonal with the potential of becoming full-time, a spokesperson said. Candidates can apply for positions in areas such as operations, food service and retail online at http://www.legoland.com/jobs.
Meanwhile, Polk County is preparing for the influx of tourists and anticipating the much-needed infusion of jobs the park will bring.
The county has been plagued by high unemployment, which was 10.8 percent as of April.
The parks doors are expected to swing open on October 15, and tickets are already on pre-sale. Attractions include rides, games, and concessions.
There are four other LEGOLAND Parks in the world – LEGOLAND® Billund in Denmark (opened in 1968), LEGOLAND® Windsor, outside of London (1996), LEGOLAND® California in Carlsbad (1999) and LEGOLAND® Deutschland in Günzburg, Germany (2002).
